We are currently supporting the European research project MOBILE – Facilitating Intra-EU Labour Mobility, focused on the labour mobility of Third-Country Nationals (TCNs) within the healthcare and long-term care sector across Europe. The project has successfully completed its introductory phase as well as the second working phase, during which a Summative Report was developed by experts from ELMI. The report provides a comprehensive analysis of the different mobility flows currently shaping the European workforce. In particular, the study identifies and examines the three main pillars of contemporary EU labour mobility, starting with long-term migration, where workers permanently relocate and settle in another Member State. The report is based on national contributions from partner countries including Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Poland, Malta and Serbia, and presents conclusions on the respective policy frameworks, offering a broad overview at European level. E.C.H.O. contributes to the project as a partner representing the socio-health sector, which is currently strongly affected by workforce shortages across Europe. The project represents an important opportunity to deepen the discussion on workforce shortages, ethical recruitment and sustainable mobility pathways within the European social and healthcare sector.
